OUR STORY

From a never ending hunt for the perfect gift came a new way to define what gifts actually are - this is how Unique Prints came to start making moments.

FROM THE VERY BEGINNING...

Have you ever been shopping and your feet are ready to fall off. You’re looking for a gift, you know in your mind what it is, but you can’t find it anywhere?

That’s the story of my life. Though I’m not the person looking for it. That’s my wife. I’m that guy waiting patiently outside the shop.

Listening to comments of “I like that, but I don’t like that bit, I wish it was like this” Or  “I want to get a gift for my sister, but I can’t find it anywhere”

I was the guy dutifully following the quest for perfect gift while looking longingly over at McDonald’s, wondering when the next food stop will come!

NOT A GIFT, BUT A MOMENT

My wife and I were honoured when we were asked to be godparents and my wife typically had her mind set on the gift she wanted give. She wanted it to show exactly how much we cared and how much we appreciated the trust and faith they were putting in us - it needed to be perfect.

We walked miles. We visited different towns. She ‘kept an eye out’ on our holidays (and I was told to do the same)! One particular time in a store I looked around the other people in the gift store. Wondering how many of them were also out on the fools errand. Looking for the gift that “has got to be in this last shop, it must be!’

After many hours being dragged around various stores, it finally dawned on me that the gift that my wife was looking for, that perfect gift, well - it didn’t exist!

I realised that my wife wasn’t looking for a special gift. She was looking for the MOMENT that the gift was given. That moment when they realise just how much we care about them and how much we appreciated the trust they were putting in us.

And there it was, my lightbulb moment...

...I knew what the gift needed to be now, because I knew what my wife was really looking for - not a gift, but a moment.

A MOMENT, DEFINED

By focusing on the moment the gift was given I could work out what she truly wanted:

- The gitft needed to be personalised to show how much they meant to us.

- And it needed to be Unique, not some mug with a name on that can be bought anywhere, but truly unique.

I had recently left the army and I was looking for a way to spend more time at home with my young family and so the idea to help people find the perfect gifting moment was born.

I would create special moments when a gift is given, I would create...Unique Prints.-
